Membership is open and shall be limited to persons who have an interest in
providing assistance to the needy members of the Burgher community
in Sri Lanka.

CATARACT OPERATIONS AND SPECTACLES FOR THE POOR

The Club provides aid to poor elederly people suffering from Cataract problems. This program is in conjunction with the Lions Club and the First Sight Hospital in Hendala, Sri Lanka.

Catatract surgery is provided free of charge to the patients and the costs for surgery, lenses, post surgery medications like eyedrops etc and reasonable travelling costs are paid for by the Club.

This program is funded through donations received for this specific program and we welcome and are grateful for new funding to continue this essential service to provide for those with no means to obtain this surgery.

We also collect used spectacles to provide for the poor. These spectacles/reading glasses are graded and with the services of an optician in Sri Lanka, we are able to provide the correct lenses to those people, who are in need.

We would like to see some new members joining the Club.

If we are to expand the welfare services we provide to the Less Fortunate members of our community, then we need to expand our membership database.

You can help us to feed, clothe and give shelter to those in dire need of our help and live in poverty in Sri Lanka. Your membership also helps us to support through education a generation of children and help them to improve their future.
