President's Message

President’s Message

I would like to sincerely thank all those Members who put their trust in me and voted me in as President of the Eighty Club.

I appreciate the confidence you have in me and would like to say ‘Thank you’ once again.

I can assure you I will do my best not to disappoint you.

I am delighted to be working with a very hard working and capable Committee, most of whom I know quite well and the others I will get to know very quickly.

This makes it a lot easier for me and I am happy to be part of the Team.

Two items I would like to focus on, besides other things,    are -

-         Working towards increasing our Membership numbers, and

-         To bring in more people to attend our functions.

If you have any ideas that you would like to share with me in this regard, as well as  any ideas that could help us improve any situation, please do not hesitate to let me know as we meet at future functions.   I would be only too glad to check it out and incorporate any feasible suggestions.

I would like to thank Allan and the staff at the Grand on Prince’s for the hard work they put in to enable our guests and ourselves to have a very enjoyable time.

Thank you to Elmo Wells Jansz too for the music he provides which no doubt is enjoyed by all.

A very big thank you to Tony Scarnivel as he retires as Treasurer.  A total of forty years in that role, having commenced as Assistant Treasurer and subsequently Treasurer of the Eighty Club.  That is an amazing milestone and something that would be hard to beat.

Thank you to Arlene too for her support and patience.  We wish you both all the very best as you find time to relax, but none the less, we look forward to catching up with you at future lunches.

I would like to thank Angelo for nominating and taking on his new role as Treasurer.  I wish you all the very best Angelo.   Just remember you are expected to walk in Tony’s footsteps – All up 40 years!!!

Thank you Rodney for all the MC -ing you do at each function.  You do a great job and I am sure we all appreciate it.

My very best wishes to Earl, Marie and all the Committee Members.  I look forward to working together with you all as a Team. I am sure we will have a great time together as we strive to care for the less fortunate in Sri Lanka.

My thanks also, to my husband Melville who understands  and acommodates my busy lifestyle schedule and various committments to make a diference in every way and to our community.

Thank you to you all once again.

God bless you, keep well and stay safe!
